The map and the website were conceived by Donato Lanati, scientist and enologist who founded and directs the Enosis Research Center in Fubine. Dr. Lanati’s goal is to share his love for Monferrato and its “infernot”- the underground, stone-carved rooms designed for the storage of wine. The map and the website were also born out of his rebellion against traditional guidebooks that overwhelm the tourist with detail, denying them the possibility to be protagonists of their own “discoveries.”

Monferrato Tours: The Concept
Monferrato Tours is not a traditional guidebook but an interactive map that will allow you to discover the extraordinary region of Monferrato following the steps and the tips of those who experienced it before you.
Anyone can contribute to this website by submitting recommendations about places, restaurants, craft shops, or routes that caught their imagination. The current version has been developed based on the input of more than 20 local experts and tourists that have explored the region in the last year.

The Map will grow in parallel to the website, to provide an interactive tool with the most important information to get to know the region. The map is a “shared cartography” that will be updated annually with your recommendations, photos, and travel tips. On the map, you’ll find three types of itineraries: gourmet, cultural, and outdoor, with different icons for the nine points.
